International students
Instead of a down-payment, International students are expected to pay 50% of their annual residence fees prior to registration and the balance thereof is due before the start of the second semester
Do a safety check
This will hopefully be covered in the inventory check, but make sure all the locks work and that windows close securely. Let your residence manager know if you have any concerns.
You'll want peace of mind that all your favourite belongings are safe, so don’t forget this one.
Reassess your student account
It is a good idea to check out your student account regularly, so you may know if there is unregularities.

Undergraduate First years
Straight out of high school or new to higher education? If you have been admitted to a first-year program, you're considered an incoming first-year student.
When you receive an offer, you will be required to accept your residence contract and pay the residence down-payment to confirm your space. NB! Only stduents with confirmed funding are exempted from paying residence down-payment.
Undergraduate Upper years
Returning to residence or interested in living on campus for your next term? You are considered an upper-year student. We offer dedicated upper-year residences and living and learning programming tailored to the upper-year experience.
When you receive an offer, you will be required to accept your residence contract and pay the residence down-payment to confirm your space. NB! Only stduents with confirmed funding are exempted from paying residence down-payment.
Graduate students
Enrolled in a masters or doctorate program? Student Housing offers post-graduate students one-term, anualy renewable contracts in our dedicated post graduate village. You can stay in residence as long as you are registered full-time with Nelson Manadela University.
Check smoke detectors
Again, this should be done before you move in but it's still worth checking them yourself.
Make sure they’ve been installed in the right places. It’s the residence manager's responsibility to make sure there’s at least one smoke detectors installed on every floor.

Choose only University Accredited Accomodation. This is one way to be sure that you will be getting great recommendations.

You should receive an inventory at the beginning of your tenancy, which records the condition of the property.

Room Changes
Please note that you are to remain in the room to which you have been allocated. Residents who move rooms without authority will be reprimanded which could include a heavy fine.
Residence Down-Payment
The residence down-payment is expected of every prospective resident student before residence registration. The residence down-payment is the first advance payment towards residence fees.

Clean
